Match Report: Valencia CF kick off 2023 with Copa del Rey win against CF la Nucía (0-3)
Valencia CF played their Copa del Rey opener against CF La Nucía at 7 pm kick-off time at the Estadio Camilo Cano in the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey in what was the first-ever meeting between these two sides.
Valencia CF were off to a positive start to the game as the Dutch forward put Valencia CF in front lifting the ball over the goalkeeper after skipping past a few opposition players to finish off his solo run in style.
Valencia CF continued to pile the pressure on the opposition, stamping their authority on the game and dictating the play as the floodgates opened after the opening goal at the Estadio Camilo Cano.
Ilaix Moriba doubled Valencia CF’s on the half-hour mark after collecting a pinpoint first-time ball from Jesús Vázquez and turned it home on the stretch to put Valencia CF two goals to the good.
The first half wore on with no further incidents and Valencia CF led FC La Nucía at the intermission by a 0-2 scorline.
Valencia CF picked up where they left off in the first period taking charge of proceedings a dominating the game whilst looking to extend their lead in the early goings of the second stanza.
Persistence paid dividends in the 70th minute. Hugo Duro made it 0-3 for Valencia CF from close range after Justin Kluivert selflessly rolled the ball across into his fellow forward Hugo Duro who forcefully poked it home to get on the scoresheet.
The scoreline remained unchanged and Valencia CF got their Copa del Rey campaign off to a positive start with a 0-3 win over CF La Nucía at the turn of the year in the knockout competition.
Gennaro Gattuso’s side will be looking to build on their Copa del Rey win on Friday Night Football against Cádiz CF on Three Kings’ Day at 9 pm kick-off time at Mestalla on Matchday 16 of LaLiga.
